Useful for craft and architectural modelling applications. Balsa offers the ‘real wood’ look and feel without the difficulty of machining that wood is known for.
Balsa sheets are available in 2 main sizes:
75mm x 915mm
100mm x 915mm
With thicknesses from 1mm – 50mm.
Thin balsa sheets are easily cut with a hobby blade. For thicker pieces a saw is recommended; anything from a hand or hacksaw to a bandsaw or circular mitre saw is suitable. Balsa Wood cuts, shapes and sands easier than any other hardwood.
The porous nature of Balsa Wood means it accepts stains and finishes readily. Balsa works well with a wide range of adhesives - in particular, glues such as our PVA Glue Range and the fast setting, high strength UHU Hart Glue for Balsa.
