Gordon Harris Balsa Wood Rectangle

Gordon Harris Balsa Wood Rectangle

915mm x 3mm x 12.5mm

Useful for many applications: aeromodel, craft, architectural or scale modelling, bridge building or just some simple creative fun for the kids.

Balsa can be shaped and machined with any traditional woodworking tools or machines . Band, Scroll and Circular saws make excellent clean cuts in Balsa Wood. Hand tools such as hacksaws, jewellers saws, chisels, planers, sandpaper etc are all great tools to work Balsa with. In addition to these woodworking tools it is possible to cut or carve off layers of Balsa Wood with a standard Hobby Knife or Stanley Knife. Performing more passes with less wood removed in each pass will produce the best results.

Sticks under 6.5mm will be easy to cut with only a hobby blade.

The porous nature of Balsa Wood means it accepts stains and finishes readily. Balsa works well with a wide range of adhesives – in particular, glues such as our PVA Glue Range and the fast setting, high strength UHU Hart Glue for Balsa.
